Every journey begins with a request. A moment that feels small but shifts everything. For us at Appu G, that moment was Kalgi. It wasn’t just a piece of jewellery — it was the start of something bigger.
It began in Amritsar. A city steeped in tradition, where Kalgi holds deep cultural meaning. A client reached out with a unique request: could we design this iconic piece — traditionally worn in ceremonies — in American diamond jewellery? It was unlike anything we had done before. But we were all in.
We dove headfirst into research. Studied the history, the symbolism, the significance. This wasn’t just about creating something beautiful. It was about respecting what it stood for. We sketched. We collaborated with our kaarigars. We refined every curve, every setting — until it felt like more than jewellery. It felt like honour.
Once the final piece was approved, everything changed. That first Kalgi opened up an entirely new category for us. It showed us what was possible when storytelling met tradition — and when design became deeply personal.
Since then, Kalgi has become part of our signature language. Brides request it. Collectors treasure it. And for us, it remains a reminder — that one request, one idea, one emotion can turn into a legacy.
At Appu G, Kalgi isn’t just a category. It’s a symbol of how we work — with curiosity, with care, and with a commitment to turning meaningful traditions into wearable art.
